Press Release Summary = THE Global Institute of Logistics has launched its Global
Training and Development Council. The aim of the Council is to heighten awareness of
education, training and development within the logistics industry and make it a
priority within organizations globally.

Press Release Body = The Global Institute of Logistics has announced the launch of
its Global Training and Development Council. The Council will provide the global
third party logistics sector with the authoritative forum through which to debate
the central training and development issues affecting the development of the
industry. The Institute hopes the Council will help logistics service providers
across the world respond to the skills gap in the industry.

Lucia Simonsen, Director of specialist training provider Rasmussen & Simonsen
International, is to Chair the council and play a leading role in developing this
resource.

The Training and Development Council has a global remit and will present new
research and case studies from companies all over the world, showing the benefit
they can gain from making serious investment in training and educating their people.
It will build up to offering training resources online in an effort to spread good
practice in this area right across the industry.

Lucia Simonsen, Chairman of the Council commented:

"The training programmes that logistics companies put in place have to be of the
highest quality because they have to support the overall logistics process and add
value to it.

It will be the role of this new council to help drive upwards the quality of
training and education that the industry offers to the people working in it."

The Training and Development Council has been established in order to support
companies in their goal to achieve a higher standard of critical industry knowledge
among employees in the global logistics industry.

The Institute\'s ongoing analysis concludes that logistics service providers with a
commitment to training and development are most likely to succeed in winning,
executing and most importantly retaining service contracts.

Speaking at the launch of the Council, Kieran Ring CEO at the Institute said:

"The Council's mission is to promote best practices through relevant industry
training and development initiatives.

The Council will also promote the need, benefits and value of training throughout
the industry. The Council intends to establish industry-training benchmarks to
ensure return on training and development investment is maximized. It will also
develop and provide certified e-learning programs available on an individual and
company basis for interested parties.

I want to thank Lucia Simonson for her passion and enthusiasm in persevering with
her vision for this council, I believe that the council under her chairmanship will
elevate Training and Development to the top of the global logistics agenda and pay
an important part in facilitating collaboration in the global supply chain"

The primary goal of the council is to create an industry specific channel for
learning in order to ensure that this commitment on behalf of today\'s companies is
both achievable and successful in creating a competitive advantage.

The Training and Development Council have created the \"Audit Survey\" in order to
establish key initial training needs and requirements of the responding
organizations and/or management teams. Companies are invited to take the survey and
it can be found on the Council's homepage at
